Gordon Galloway - Maker of quality Uilleann pipes

Web site under construction

Brief History

In January 2001 I moved from Edinburgh to Ennis in County Clare to aid my learning of the Uilleann pipes.
In July 2003 I decided to try my hand at making the pipes because I was finding it difficult to buy a quality full set, I mean how hard could it be right !! - just bore some holes & stuff.
Having spent a considerable amount of money on lathes, tools, materials etc, I started on bags & bellows and the problems started.
A year later in July 2004, I sold my first half set of pipes.
The pipes have continued to develop & I finished the design of the regulators in September 2007.

Along the way I have had unlimited help & advice from Cillian O'Briain of Dingle, County Kerry, who is undoubtedly one of the finest makers of all time. Although my pipes are based loosely around Cillian's work, they are my own design.
The regulator keys are the result of design collaboration with Cillian & Andy Faden of Bedford, England.

In September 2006 I moved back to Scotland.
I currently work full time as a pipemaker most of the year & also work as a part-time Ski Instructor in the winter.
So far I have only made concert pitch pipes in the key of D, however will start developing flat pitch pipes in the near future.

Tis me playing the Scottish small pipes.
